Ezra Mable was convicted of murder and released after ten years in prison following a postconviction appeal. Bill Ritz investigated the case, and he and Detective Kirk Hastings were both named in a lawsuit brought by Mable. Mable claimed that police ignored multiple witnesses and tips pointing to another suspect, co-erced witnesses to testify and “lost” physical evidence.
