Maryland’s highest level court. Based in Annapolis, Anne Arundel County. The Chief Judge of the Court of Appeals is also the head of the Maryland Judiciary, responsible for all levels of court in the state.
In March 2019, the Maryland Court of Appeals overturned the decision by the Circuit Court and then by the Court of Special Appeals granting Adnan Syed a new trial.
Syed asked the Court to reconsider its decision; the court denied this motion on April 19, 2019, making its decision final.
